2000's Technology Advancement

  • USB Flash Drive

    USB technology (Universal Serial Bus) had been around for a little while, and it was an extremely versatile tool as it was a universal technology. However, in year 2000 USB flash drives hit the market in the US. These were ground breaking because of their minimal size, their ability to take them anywhere, and the amount of files (at the time) that you could store on them.
  • Bluetooth 2.0

    Bluetooth was originally invented in 1994, and the first phone with Bluetooth abilities appeared in 2001. However, it had limited range and bandwidth. Bluetooth 2.0 was created in 2004 and was a nice upgrade. It promoted a bigger adoption of the technology and its usefulness.
  • Facebook

    Facebook was founded by a famous Harvard student known as Mark Zuckerberg. It was originally named FaceSmash in 2003, and it was a dating website. The business model was revamped the next year and it became one of the most notable social media platforms to date.
  • iPhone

    The first iPhone was announced by Steve Jobs in early 2007, and it was released that summer. This phone was groundbreaking. It had a touch screen and very user-friendly interface. It was the first time you could have many of the technologies we take for granted now all in one place.
  • Bitcoin

    Bitcoin was virtual currency designed by Satoshi Nakamoto. It used blockchain technology to virtually verify transactions. It was not taken seriously at first, leading early investors to make huge amounts of money.
