IBM researcher Robert H. Dennard invents DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) which significantly increased computer memory storage. It was quickly adopted in the industry and is still used to this day.

IBM created the first floppy disk in 1967 with a small team of engineers led by David L. Noble. The first floppy disk had about 8o kilobytes of storage. When IBM introduced the floppy disk, it basically made company data punch cards obsolete.
