    Five men were arrested inside the Watergate complex of the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C.. The men were attempting to install surveillance equipment inside the complex. While it was never proven that President Nixon ordered the break-in, the senate approved articles of impeachment. The impeachment spurred Nixon to resign and made more Americans lose faith in the government.
