    Fidel launches himself into Orthodox party politics. The two have a heated fight in front of a guest when Fidel tells her that he will stay in Cuba, run as Orthodox, and some day come to power. Mirta cries that he promised they would go to Paris. Fidel takes 2 alabaster lamps, Batista's wedding presents, and smashes them- yelling "Coño (more akin to damn it, but means cunt) Mirta, don't insist, I am not leaving, enough."

  • The Kefauver Committee hunts Lansky

    The Kefauver Committee hunts Lansky
    This was a Senatorial committee organized to investigate interstate mob crime. The committee ended up shutting down Lansky's illegal gambling operations in Broward, but afterward, called him to testify. They used the subject of Cuba to loosen his tongue. The committee did not know his dealings with Batista. Investigations would drag on until 1952, making Cuba an even more pressing deal as indictments would be coming for Lansky.

    Castro nearly assassinated by rural guard
    Castro was arrested for participating in an unauthorized protest in Cienfuegos against new regulations against Student groups. He was escorted out to the countryside in a car followed by police. Saved by the president of the Cienfuegos city government, who was suspicious about what the captors had in store.

    In December of 1950, the most popular candidates were Chibás and Batista. Chibas at 29.70%, Batista at 19.03%. Batista is still likely to lose Presidential election.

    Castro defends himself in court for the first time
    Castro defends himself before an Manifest Urgency Court (a decision to arraign a person charged by an judicial administrator in a time of crisis) on charges that he was disturbing the peace for inciting the banned student demonstration. Judges ruled 2 to 1 in his favor.
