    Period of unemployment and a very unstable economy. This caused many problems in early 1940 where 5.3 million were still unemployed.

    Wages rose in the 1940s during the war helping to give many a better quality of life. Rural areas however didn’t see this wage hike as much and their standard of living was still abysmal and even declined in some areas

    Employment expansion
    Many Americans got jobs in the factory industry to help prepare for war. This helped to bring America out of the depression because the unemployment rate dropped to 1.2 percent and nearly 19 million women were working outside the home making money.
