    The Spanish Flu started in 1918. It is considered a pandemic because it spread throughout the whole world. This sickness infected millions and approximately 10,000 people died.

    The Winnipeg General Strike was in 1919. This was when workers went on strike because they wanted higher wages, an eight hour day and better working conditions. This then caused the Bloody Saturday.

    Bloody Saturday started because of the Winnipeg General Strike. This was when the police were trying to end the strike by shooting their guns into the air and the ground which then ended up injuring and killing people.

    Prohibition started in 1920. This was when all countries except for Quebec banned alcohol. There were many positives and negatives. People's work performance was starting to get better but, that means that people would try to smuggle it back to their country. These people were called Rumrunners and Whiskey Smugglers.

    Lots of new technology was invented in the 1920's but, the radio was extremely popular. Many people across Canada had a radio as a source of entertainment.

    A Flapper was a term used in the 1920's that described women's fashion. This was when women had shorter dresses that were easier to dance in and they cut their hair. Fashion helped express the role of women.

    The 1920's were called "The Golden Age of Sports" because that is when most sports were invented and were starting to be popular. People would also play sports in their free time.

    The Jazz Age started in the 1920's. This was when jazz music and dances became very popular. Also, many new dances like the Charleston were created during this time.

Some of them didn't even make it back home. This issue lasted for many years until the last school closed in the late 1900's

    There are many causes to the Great Depression. The main reasons are over production and over expansion and Canada's dependance on wheat, fish and minerals. Also, Canada's dependance on the USA for imports, high tariffs and buying stocks were also causes.

    The Great Depression started in 1929 and lasted for about 10 years. This was a terrible time because prices were too high and people couldn't afford much. This means that it was difficult for people to buy food and any other basic necessities that are needed to survive. Many people also lost their jobs.

    Relief camps are for people who don't have jobs, shelter or money to be able to support themselves. They would get sent to these camps where they would work and get paid a small amount of money and some food.
