    This was Lincolns acceptance speech that followed the Illinois convention. He was telling citizen that being divided wouldn't last long and that the US would be a union again. He stated the divide wouldn't stop until a crisis was reached.

    This was one of the four proposed Kansas Constitutions. It supported existence of slavery and protected slaveholders. And allowed voters to the choice of allowing more slaves in a area. It was rejected by Kansas and Kansas became a free state.

    Lincoln focused on sustaining support in the North, while attempting to allay fears in the South, where he was wildly unpopular. In his inaugural address, he denied any plan to interfere in states where slavery already existed. But Lincoln flatly rejected the right of any state to secede from the Union.
