    MaoZedong heads Long March
    The Long March was a daring move starting in 1934 and ending in 1935 in which 100,000 Communist forces fled Jiang Jieshi's forces. Their journey, 6,000 miles ling, finally ended when they settled in caves in northwestern China.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Germany invades Poland
    Germany's invasion of Poland is considered the beginning of WWII and was a test of Germany's new military strategy-blitzkrig. In Poland their strategy worked and they took the Westen half of Poland while the Soviets moved into the Eastern half.
  • France and Great Britain declare war on Germany

    France and Great Britain declare war on Germany
    As the French and British declared war on Germany, they mobilized their armies and stationed them along the Maginot Lines. This was after the Germans had invaded Poland while the French and British were mobilizing trying to save the Polish.
  • Japan attacks Pearl Harbor

    Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
    Japan was the force that brought the Americans into the war, not the Germans. They started the war with America by bombing Pearl Harbor, sinking and damaging ships. The Americans later declared war on the Japanese and their allies, the Axis Powers.
  • Germany surrenders

    This was the day that General Eisenhower accepted the surrender of the Third Reich of Germany. Hitler had committed suicide along with the wife he had married on April 30. The surrender was officially signed on May 9th in Berlin.

    Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    The atomic bomb also known as the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, and dropped on Nagasaki three days later. The United States had sent a message to the Japanese asking them to surrender or else they could expect "a rain of ruin from the air."
  • United Nations formed

    United Nations formed
    The United Nations was an idea like that of the League of Nations. It was part of Churchill and Roosevelt's edea in the Atlantic Charter. It was started to help prevent another World War from occurring.
