    Prohibition is implemented in Canada, banning the sale, production and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Prohibition took place from 1918 to 1933. Canadian citizens, temperance organizations and law enforcement agencies were involved in the implementation and enforcement of Prohibition.
  • Spanish Flu

    Spanish Flu

    The Spanish flu a deadly influenza virus spreads all over Canada effecting returning soldiers from WW1. The Spanish flu accrued from 1918 to 1919 with multiple waves, resulting in civilian population staying in doors. Causing multiple local and unessential business closing.
  • The Winnipeg General Strike

    The Winnipeg General Strike

    The Winnipeg General Strike was where the working class of Winnipeg, wanted a increase and change to the system, They wanted a pay increase and promised 8 hour work days. They were stopped as the government had thought they were trying to "Start a Revolution".
  • Bloody Saturday

    Bloody Saturday

    Bloody Saturday was the end of the Winnipeg Strike. They were peacefully protesting before the arrest of the leaders was when things started to get more heated. Officials deemed it as a riot and sent the RCMP. Many people were shot and 4 had died. 4 days later the leaders had called off the strike.

    Residential Schools were government ran schools. It's goal was to make indigenous people fit more into White culture. Residential Schools were known for beating and torturing kids as a means for punishments. Leaving all indigenous kids traumatized from the experience.

    Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King

    Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, was a liberal position and was the 10th prime minister of Canada. he spent 21 years in office. He had made a unpopular name for him self after giving the 5 cent speech and saying to "wait out" the great depression. Giving lead to a constrictive government.

    The Chinese Exclusion Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Act was put in place to stop the immigration of Chinese Civilians into Canada. Reason was from a recent war and with fear of Chinese Citizens taking Canadian jobs. The act had caused many Chinese-Canadian families to be split with many families being left with half in China. This put more discrimination towards minoritys.

    Royal Canadian Air Force

    The Royal Canadian Air Force was Canadas airforce from 1924 until 1968. Most of the RCAF planes were used to help civilians with forest fires, Smuggling among coasts. in 1968 the RCAF was split from the 3 military branches in the Canadian military.

    The Jazz Singer was the first feature-length movie that featured real time audio. these were called "Talkies". It marked the end of the silent film era. And the start of Hollywood. It shows how much Jazz and film were both popularized during the 1930's

    October 29th, 1929 was the day the stock market crashed. People had either bought stocks that day or had heard of bad things happening and sold all their stocks. The banks lost all their money on investments and almost everyone was negatively impacted by the Stock market crash. This was also a major factor in the great depression which made the 30s that much worse.

    The Great Depression was a hard time economically for everyone. It had many causes leading up to it not just Black Tuesday. It had made time after the phosphorous after war time into a struggling time. Many were swimming in debt and had no passions. The great depression was world wide and effected everyone.

    The "Five Cent Speach" was a speach delivered by William Lyon Mackenzie King, stating that Canadians shouldn't give 5 cents to any provisional governments under a conservative government. This was when job less was at it's peak and eventually led to the voting out of Mackenzie King for a more Conservative Government.

    The Statute of Westminster was a law passed by British parliament that recognized all colonies under the "Dominion" Status to self govern and exist under their own laws. Canada decided to still be in the Common Wealth of Nations and it's why Canada is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary government

    CBC - Canadian Broadcasting Company

    The government created CBC as a way to block out American Media and to inspire Canadians to make their own broadcasting company all throughout Canada. CBC continues to be a reliable source for Canadian news to this day.

    World war 2 started September 10th 1939 for Canada. After waiting a week to join the war Canadian people were switched into a total war status and troops started being sent over to France. Germany had built his army up all throughout the 1930s and invades Poland with the USSR as the allies declare war on Germany.
