In 1585 Queen Elizabeth allowed Walter Raleigh to take over 100 men to claim land in the new world. She allowed this after two of his men found it to be a perfect settlement. When they got there it was to late for harvest so they went back home a year later.

The lost colony started when John White went back to the Old World to get more supplies. He didn't come back for two years because there was a war going on. When he got back evryone was gone, and there was the word "CROATOAN" was carved nearby. They called it the lost colony ever since.

Jamestown was established on May 14th 1607. Twenty years after the lost colony, a group of over 100 men landed in the banks of Virginia. The water was not healthy to drink. Jamestown was built in Virginia by James River.

The House of Burgesses was built in Jamestown. It was established in the year of 1619. The pilgrims first meeting in the House of Burgesseswas in the summer on July 20th 1619.

The puritans came over from England in the Old World to escape the Church of England. They would accept Wiliam Penn and his men. The puritans settlement was for New England in the Old World.

When the pigrims were sailing to the New World the settled at Plymouth rock. They wanted to settle nearJamestown. A storm knocked them off corse so they settled at Plymouth rock instead.

Oceanus Hopkins was born in the 1620's on the Mayflower. When she was born her parents and a lot of other pilgrims were heading to the New World for religious freedom. Her parents thought it would be good for their daughter to not have to follow the Church of England and didn't have to be Cathlic.

The Mayflower compact was signed on Novemer 21, 1620. It was signed by Oceanus Hopkins parents.The Mayflower compact was a way to keep order and develope laws for the new colony.

The firstthanksgiving strted on November 27, 1621. It lasted three days. Thhey ate a lot of different varietys of food like potatos, turkey, carrots, and corn.

Pennsylvania was established in the year of 1682. At first Wiliam Penn first named Pennsylvania, Sylvania which means "woods." Pennsylvania was guaranteed to have free and fair trial by jury, freedom for unjust imprisonment, as well as freedome of religion and elections.
