Merchants organized the Virginia Company of London. Then King James 1 granted it a charter. -
Settlement
The Virginia Company found a settlement and named it Jamestown. It was in the honor of King James. John Smith and John Rolfe other colonists found the settlement spot. -
John Smith
John was assumed president of James town. He then took control and lead Jamestown. -
John Rolfe
This is when John Rolfe introduces his tobacco seeds Which made Jamestown grow. -
African American
This is when the first African American came to Jamestown. This is when Slavery was legal. -
First settlers
The first settlers Sailed on the Mayflower and they were called the Pilgrims. -

In 1624, King James called Virginia a royal colony. -
Fought
All lot of white men did not own land so they went to Virginia’s westerns frontier and they battled Native Americans for land. -
Rebellion
Bacon wanted to fight the Native Americans to take over there land for tobacco plantations but Governor Berkley said no. This then sparked Bacons Rebellion. -

In Virginia Williamsburg was named capital of Virginia. -
Norfolk
Norfolk was burned down .It was burned done during the American Revolutionary War. -
Rights
Virginias Declaration of Rights was established on Jun 12 1776. It gave the rights and the relationship between government and the governed. -
Constitution
Virginia’s first constitution was made on Jun 29 1776. The preparation was in the earlier 1776. -
Cape Henry
There Was Battle called The Battle of Cape Henry. I was at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. They were fighting for their Independence on March 16th 1781. -
Battle
This was the battle of Yorktown. Washington led this war he demanded everyone to start firing. -
Rebellion
This was Nat’s rebellion He had a group and they were going to kill all the whites in Virginia. Could also be known as Virginias Horrid Massacre. -
Take over
This is when Virginia joined the Confederacy. When they joined they moved there government to Richmond Virginia. -
Vote
This is when they first started to vote and pass laws. But you had to be White male that owned land. -
Battle
This Battle was called Battle of Carrick’s Ford it was the end of a series of battles between the forces of Union Maj. -
Fought
The battle was called Battle of Cockle Creek they were fighting over who got the river because it was the only part of Virginia still part of the union. -
Law’s
This is when Virginia started passing Jim Crow Laws. Most of his laws were about segregation. They were really bad for blacks. -
Destroyed
People were working on an engine wheel and they broke a flange and it tipped over no one escaped without a serious Injury. It happened just North of Danville, Virginia. -
The Great depression
This is when the Depression started and many people were losing their jobs. Also lost all there money when the stock investments clasped and couldn't pay for everything they bought with credit. -
Court
In this time to people went to court to fight for blacks equal pay these peoples name were Aline Black and Melvin Austin. -
Crashes
There were two planes that crashed into each other over Virginia. It killed 55 people and injured the Pilot. -
Black’s
This is when the first black got to attend school But then Virginia decided that any integrated schools would not get funding. -
Holocaust
This is when Virginia founded its first Holocaust Museum. It was mostly about the Holocaust survivors, Jay Ipson was the youngest Holocaust survivor. -
Lost
When a hurricane hit Virginia over 1 million people lost electricity. This was very devastating. -
Celebrate
This year Virginia was celebrating their 400th year anniversary for founding Jamestown. -
Killed
There was a shooting in Virginia tech school. Two people died. Also during these years Virginia found two members of the spy ring, that were Russians and they were living in Virginia.
