This reperesents deminishing progress because it proves that, at one time, Negros were actually able to own land. Anthony owned part of corn feild and aquired it from a white man. this shows that Anthony, a Negro, was respected enough to do business with.

  • Document C: Anthony returns to court over John Casar, in 1654

    Anthony Johnson returns to court over his slave, John Casar. John claims his required years have come to an end. Anthony Fights to keep his slave and wins. This represents diminishing progress because it proves that a Negro can win in a court with only white men in all offices.
  • Act XII: Negroe womens children to serve according to the condition of the mother

    Now Negros have no choice as to the status they will hold when they are older. This represents diminishing progress because it proves that after a while, Negros were becoming de-huminized. Negros now have no choice and are being forced into bondage.
  • Act I: an act about the casuall killing of slaves

    Slaves can be killed and it is not considered cruel!!!!!! This represents diminishing progress because slaves are now considererd more and more non-human. It is considered normal to kill slaves if they try to escape or mess up in any way.
  • Chap. XXII: slaves are not considered human

    Slaves are now seen as alien. This represents diminishing progress because it shows that after a while, slaves are not even considered human. Skin now determines what your place in society is, and alway will be, if you are colored. slaves are now completely de-humanized
