Assassination attempt on Hitler fails.
Every year, Hitler and the “veteran soldiers” of the National Socialist Party would gather to commemorate the failed putsch of November 9,1923.While Hitler had been speaking in Munich, a man by the name of Johann George Elser was arrested in Constance while attempting to illegally cross the border into Switzerland. A number of suspicious items were found on his person, and he was sent to be interrogated. He was attempting to kill Hitler. Elser was later killed. -

The battle in the South Atlantic was the first major naval battle of World War Two. Ships from the Royal Navy’s South American division took on the might of Germany’s Graf Spee which was successfully attacking merchant shipping in the South Atlantic. -
