    The Life of Anothony Johnson and his sons

    The laws made against slaves and court cases involving Anothony Johnson. This timeline shows different laws that were made that eventually led to discrimination according to skin color. When someone says the word slave, we think of african-americans in colonial times that worked for a lifetime and were treated badly. These laws are the reason we that comes to mind.

    Anthony Johnson acquires land. This is important to diminishing progress because it shows that blacks could own land. This also shows that people aren't discriminating according to skin color……yet.
  • Act XII

    Act XII
    This law states that any children born to a Negro woman will become the same thing she is. For example, if a child is born to a slave, the child will be a slave. This is important to diminishing progress because is shows that people are starting to discriminate according to skin color/race.
  • Act I

    Act I
    This is an act about the casual killing of slaves. In the law, it says that if a slave required punishment, since his length of service could not be extended, the masters could kill him and it would be legal. This is important to diminishing progress because it shows that now, people are discriminating against slaves, which are mostly blacks.

    This law states that enslaved children can start working at age 12. This is important to diminishing progress because it shows that as soon as children were old enough to work on thier own, the government wanted the owners to pay taxes on them.

    Chap. XXII
    In my mind, this is the most important act of them all. It declares that all enslaved Negros, Mulattos, and Indians in the dominion are property. This is the most important because this is the worst that discrimination has gotten so far. It declares slaves as property that could be sold, traded, and owned. It might not be the case, but what goes through my mind is that property is to be owned by a particular person that could do anything they wanted with it. This law is the closest to the 18th c
