Court Case C says that Anthoney went to court with this man before and lost. He brought him backto court for the same reason. Mr. Robert Parker had said that Anthony's slave was an indentured servent and should be free. Anthony said he was a slave for life. The first time at court the slave was set free but this time the slave was returned and Mr. Parker was fined. This shows that Anthony is a respected member of the comunity and was treated the same or almost the same as a white man.

  • Act IV

    Act IV
Act IV says that negroes, indians, and mulattos can't hold office in the colonies. The law suggests that before 1705, someone of color had held office. It took away another right of black men. Something this law does is define mulatto. It says "... the child of an indian and the child, grandchild, and great grandchild of a negroe shall be deemed, acounted, held and taken to be a mulatto. This law is the straw that broke the camels back. It separates englishman from the men of color.
