The High Renaissance was the culmination of the artistic developments of the Early Renaissance, and one of the great explosions of creative genius in history. It is notable for three of the greatest artists in history: Michelangelo Buonarroti, Raphael Sanzio and Leonardo da Vinci.

Lorenzo Ghiberti

Ghiberti spent the next 50 years creating two pairs of bronze doors for the Baptistry in Florence.

Masaccio

He took his paintings further by using perspective. Which was a technique developed by Brunelleschi that gave objects the apperance of distance.

Cosmo de Medici

Was the weathiest man of his time. In 1434 he won control of Florence.

Machiavelli is born

Spent his youth underthe rule of Lorenzo the MAgnificent. As an adult he saw the golden age start to crumble.

Laurentian Age

First, Lorenzo de Medici - arguably the greatest of the Medici - died in 1492. This brought a close to what is often referred to as the "Laurentian Age" in Florence
