    This act took away guns from blacks. It made an offical distinction between white and black men. This was the start of the era of time when racial segregation changed what would be America. It all started in the colonies with slaves. With blacks being mostly slaves it made people start thinking that;they were animals.

    This court case shows that Anthony Johnson, before most of laws took place, was a man of great stature. He went to court because one of his slave wants to be free. During the first court case he loses his slave. Later though, he goes back to court and wins against an englishman to gets his slave back. This shows that Anthony Johnson had a place in society and that people respected him. There is a real diminishing progress throughout his family's passing history.

    This act let plantation owners casually kill slaves. This was used as a 'fear factor', to scare other slaves. It, along with the other acts, made slaves seem more like neglected pets or farm animals. This act decreased the amount of slaves that ran away. It decreased the amount of slaves that ran away by showing them that if they run away, their family may be harmed by the owner.     This act caused black children to be worth money.They were now able to be sold and bought. That effected the slaves, not the freed slaves. Still this law outraged many people.By starting with newborns they are starting to take control of a whole group of people by effecting their future.This was the starting point thet led to the complete anilhation of the humanity of the slaves in the American colonies.

    This act took the right to hold office away from indian, black, and mulatto (mixed) people. This was to make sure that they can't do anything about the laws they were passing. it was also used so that they couldn't get their voices out. So that no one would give a second thought to slavery. This was probably used so that no one would stop this next act.

    This act took away all the rights of all black, mixed, or indian people. It enabled them to be legal real estate. as in able to be sold or bought. This was almost an extension of Act VII. Also, because of Act IV not many people that wanted to do something about it could.Thsi is the final act that completed and diminished many people's rights.

    Summary of Anthony Johnson's Life
    Anthony Johnson started his life as a great respected person, but as these laws passed they effected his children. That is what I mean by Diminishing progress, not towards him, towards his family. His family lost respect as the view on black people was modified and changed. That is why I call it Diminishing progress.
