Kennedy gets a leter from Khrushchev stating that missiles were just defence but he did not state that whether the blockade was lifted and Cuba could be reassured that the US would not attack that the missiles bases would be closed down and missiles would be destroyed.

Khrushchev sent a second letter to Kennedy proposing that he would take the Missiles out of Cuba if the US took the Missiles that they had out of Turkey. Kennedy couldnt do this.
Then and American plane gets shot down over cuba, killing the pilot and Kennedy is advised to place an attack just like that but Kennedy postpones an attack but if the withdraws do not happen on the USSR's side then an attack will follow. -
Krushchev writes back to Kennedy saying that to avoid the chance the peace could be broken, he has agreed to crate and ship the missiles in cuba and send them back to the Soviet Union..
