    Herbert Hoover was our 31st president of the United States. He was the last cabinent secretary to be directly elected with no previous experience and high military rank. His job was done by March 4, 1933.

    The Dust Bowl began in the summer of the 1930's. Due to the drought, dust storms, also known as "black blizzards" swept through the East Coast. It got into homes, in food, water, and the lungs of the people around. It was a hard time for the farmers especially, some even left their homes.

    Charlews Coughlin lived from Ocotober 1891-October 27 1979. After he hinted at attackes on Jewish bankers, he used radio to rationalize the polotics of Adolf Hitler.

    During the Spring and Summer of 1932, many angry veterans from WW1 protested, Because of the Great Depression, many had lost jobs and had no source of income. 20,000 army veterans ran into the nations captiol of Washington D.C because they watned their promised bonus checkes from being in the war. Many were unable to pay bill and got evicted from no money.

    In response to the Great Depression, this was a set of economic programs given by the U.S congress during the first term of FDR. This created the three R's- Relief, Reform, and Recovery. It was to give relief to the poor, some recovery the the economy, and reform the financial system.

He was later arrested and imprisoned but when he got out soon gained respect of others by supporting and promoting things such as Pan-Germanism, anti-capitolism, etcc by using things such as propaganda. on Janurary 30, 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor and tramsformed his republic into a single-party dictatorship based on the idea of Nazism.

    Also known as the Wheeler-Howard Act, gave certain rights to Native Americans. It took away the Dawes Act's privizitation of priviate holdings of American Indians, and allowed them to go back to their self-government, on a tribal basis.

    Social Security refers to Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance. Over a persons lifetime, pay a certain tax to the government and overtime it all adds up. when they reach a certain age, 65+, they get a decent amount of money every month. Many others can now have these benefits.

    From 1936-1937, workers at the Cleveland's Fisher Body plant went on strike. The union made plans to shut down Fisher #1.
  • Rape of Nanjing

    Rape of Nanjing
    This was a six-week period of horrid murder and rape. During this period, hundreds of thousands chinese people were murdered and over 80,000 women were raped by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army. This followed the Japense capturing the city of Nanjing. It was a horrific event.

    The Grapes of Wrath was a book published in 1939, written by John Steinbeck. It takes place during the Great Depression and is a story about the Joads family who are poor sharecroppers that had been driven out of their home because of the drought. It is about how they escape the Dust Bowl and set for California.
