From the 31st of May till the 8th of June, 1942, the Sydney Harbour was attacked by Japan. The Haurbor was attacked by three Japanese Submaines.

On the 21st of September, 1944, Australian allied ships were attacked by Kamikaze(Suicide) planes. As a result of this attack, 30 crew members were killed with 64 injured and it was the first Australian ship to be attacked by a Kamikze plane.
