While YCUSD sites have varying numbers of mobile labs, there has been no PD to promote using these devices to enrich student learning. As we began the 2016-17 school year , 6 teachers continued the pilot of 1:1 devices for learning - half were provided with laptops & the other half were provided with I-pads. Over the course of the school year they will rotate devices with the eventual outcome of recommending the "best" device for further implementation of 1:1 in YCUSD.

In January 2017, eight additional teachers were identified to participate in YCUSD's 1:1 pilot. Chromebooks were added into the mix of devices being rotated through the pilot classrooms. Devices being piloted now include touchscreen laptops; I-Pads & Chromebooks. The fourteen 1:1 pilot teachers will provide input in the spring of 2017 related to "the" device that will be identified for the continued implementation of 1:1 devices in YCUSD.

Recruit up to 50 teachers to implement 1:1 devices in the 2017-18 schoolyear. Selected teachers will agree to participate in
PD sessions during the summer and fall semester prior to implementing 1:1 devices in the spring semester -
Identify the 50 teachers who will begin the training in order to implement 1:1 devices in their classrooms no later than Jan 2018. The teachers will be selected through an application process. Professional development will be key to successful implementation. There will be a series of PD sessions prior to delivery of the carts as well as on-going PD once the carts are in use in the classrooms.

Purchase 15 Chromebook carts (one per schoolsite) to be used by Tech TOSAs to provide demo lessons to teachers not yet at 1:1. Outcome = Build enthusiasm for 1:1 in the classroom!!

The purchase of 2,100 devices will transition the District from 1:1 carts in classrooms to 1:1 devices for all students JK-12. Students will now be issued a device that they will be able to use at school and at home.
