    Germany and Russia signed a 10 year agreement to not fighting against each other. Europe was on the edge of a huge war. The Soviet leader Joseph Stalin helped by looking at the pact like a way to stabilize his nation. This was also useful, so that he can build up the Soviet military.

    Around 1.5 million German troops went into Poland without permission. At the same time a German airplane bombed the Polish airfields. In the Baltic Sea the German warships as well as the U-boats assaulted the Polish naval forces. Britain and France did not believe Nazi leader Adolf Hitler when he said the invasion was a defensive action. On September 3, war was declared on Germany which started World War ll.

    In Europe during World War ll Germany tried to avoid a long war. Germany was trying to vanquish short campaigns. After two years Germany relied on the "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war). They required offensive weapons (like tanks, planes, and artillery). They required this so that they can protect and defend themselves. They would drive a breach so they can go against their enemy's.

    Germany, Britain, and France were involved in this event. The German's started their final push towards France because of the British being out of the way. The British encouraged France to push back as much as they could. The French didn't have enough soldiers because their soldiers would get killed by the German's. The British were supporting the French with words, but not with troops. Finally because the French Army was so small they had to surrender.

    This time of period was January 22, 1941 to December 5, 1941. The original name of Operation Barbarossa is Operation Fritz. German troops didn't defeat Soviet forces, the campaign was signed as a crucial turning point during the war. Hitler and the generals scheduled to invaded the U.S.S.R. on mid of May 1941, but instead it happened in late June.

    At Pearl Harbor carrier-based bombers struck in the American naval base, the bombers where Japanese. The planners expected that Japan's military would cripple. They wanted to cripple the U.S. fleet because, nobody in the American aircraft carriers at Pearl that Sunday morning, were in the harbor. Japan failed to cripple the U.S. fleet because many of the battleships did not have many aircraft carriers that day.

    This period of time took place on June 4, 1942 to June 7, 1942. The Japanese wanted to attack the U.S. Navy, but the U.S. Navy was able to translate their messages to see where they were going to attack. The U.S. sent out a message to trick the Japanese to attacking when and where they wanted them to. While they where refueling the U.S. Navy was ready to attack from a different location. The Japanese retreated back to Japan because of there huge losses.

    This period of time was taking place on July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943. Germany and USSR were the two countries that were involved in the Battle of Stalingrad, but Germany had more troops because troops from Romania, Italy, Hungary and Croatia were involved. This Battle was important because Russia won the battle and that changed Germany from being strong to being weak. The Battle of Stalingrad is now know as Volgograd.

General Eisenhower said "we will accept nothing less than full victory." "More than 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe."

    The three countries involved in the Battle of Bulge are Germany, America, and Britain. The reason this battle took place was because the German's wanted to re-capture a port in the Netherlands and to drive a wedge between the American and British troops. The Germans defeated British and America by a surprise attack and Eisenhower was able to order a unit to fight the German's. The German' and the American's lost troops, but the German's weren't able to replace troops as fast as the American's.

    This time period was from February 19, 1945 to March 16, 1945. The two countries involved in this battle were Japan and the U.S. The U.S. decided to capture Iwo Jima because they were attacking the Mariana airfields and the B-29s, The U.S. invaded Iwo Jima and Japan was defeated. "It had been one of the bloodiest battle in the Marine Corps history."

    This time period was from March 1945 to June 1945. The people involved in this were the American's, the British, and the Japanese. Around 180,000 American soldiers were sent to fight against the Japanese. Airplanes called kamikaze attacked the American and British ships.

    "The VE in VE Day stands for Victory in Europe." This day was a public holiday to mark when Germany was defeated by the Allied forces. People in the UK were celebrating by going on the streets, villages, towns, and cities. On that day the president dedicated victory to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who died a month before.

    The two countries involved in this event were the United States and Japan. On this date "Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over Japanese city of Hiroshima." The United States dropped one atomic bomb and killed thousands of people were killed. The second bomb killed even more people, then finally Japan surrender days later.
