  • Japan Invades China

    When Japan invaded China it was a military conflict between Japan and China. It had been apart of the Pacific War during World War II. Germany gave economic help to China during the fight. It was one of the largest conflicts during the time. In the end China had recovered all of the land they had lost.

    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust was the large persecution and murder of over six million Jews by Nazi hands. The world Holocaust is a greek word meaning "sacrifice by fire." Germans had also targeted some other groups because of their "racial inferiority." The germans persecuted and killed millions of peopole. The Germans believed they were racially superior and that the the Jews were inferior compared to them.
  • Munich Conference

    The conference was held in Munich, During the conference the leaders of France, Great Britain, and Italy had agreeded to allow Germany annex areas of Czechoslovakia. It came as a result of a long series of negotiations. The purpose of the Munich Conference had been to discuss the future of Sudetenland in the demands created by Hitler. The agreemnet was later signed by France, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    The non-aggression pact is a national treatly between two or more countries agreeing to avoid war between them and they must resolve their disputes through peaceful negotiations. The German-Soviet Pact was an ecomonic agreement, it was provided that Gernamy would exchange manufactured goodsin exchance for Sovietraw materials. Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union had also signed a ten year nonaggression pact, both sides promised to not attack each other.
  • Blitzkrieg

    The term blitzkrieg is German for "lightning war". It was a techinique used first by the Germans during World War II.This strategy was characterized by extensive bombings early in the attack intended to destroy the enemy's air capacity, communication, munitions dumps, and railroads. The acctack was followed by a large land invastion with huge numbers of troops, artillery, and tanks.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Hitlers invasion of Poland was an important example of how Adolf Hitler intended to wage war. The strategy he used would become the "blitzkrieg" strategy. Germany forces had more more than 2,000 tanks, and over 1,000 planes.The Polish army was strong but not strong enough against Germanys attacks. The Polsih forces had been under-equipped. The Polsih army was quikcly defeated within weeks of Germanys invasion. Poland had been unprepared to fight in the war against Nazi Germany.
  • Battle of the Britain

    "Air battle for England" was the name given to the Second World War air campaign. The Battle of Britain was a clash in the skies between British and Germany air forcee flying above the United Kingdom.The battle was an important turning point of World War II. The battle ended when Germany had failed to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force. British voctory had saved the country from a ground invaion by the German forces. The battle proved that air power alone could be used for victory.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    The act was to promote the defense of the United States. The Lend-Lease Act was a program inwhich the United States supplied the Republic of China, France, Great Britain, and later on the USSR with materiels.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Hitler launced his armies in a massive invasion of the Soviet Union. Their were over 3 million German soldiers moving towards Soviet land. Barbarossa was a major turing point during World War II. The Germans had underestimated their opponesnt, and they had been un prepaired. The battle was a Soviet victory.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor was located on the island of Oahu. It was used as a naval base by the United Staes Navy, On December 7, 1941 Japan launched fighter planes on the American naval base located at Pear Harbor. They manged to destroy 20 of Americas naval ships. This attack had brought the United States into the war.
  • Wannsee Conference

    The Wannsee Conference was held in Wannsee with the senior officials of Nazi Germany. The purpose was to ensurethe final solution to the Jewish. Attenders of the conference included stae secretaries from the foreign office, justice, interior, and the state ministries from Schutzstaffel.
  • Bataan Death March

    The Bataan Death March was a death march for the captured American soldiers. The Japanese forced the captured to their death. They started the march in Mariveles, Bataan, and brought to Camp O'Donnell located in Capas, Tarlac. During the march they indured very severe physical abuse by the Japanese. They had been beaten and starved during the travels.

    Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway had been fought over the small United States mid-Pacific base in Midway. The battle was one of the most important naval battles during World War II. Japans disire was to sink the American aircraft carriers that avoided destruction at Pearl Harbor. The result of the battle was American victory.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    The Battle of Stalingrad was one of the major battles of World War II. Nazi Germany and allies had fought against the Soviet Union for the control of Stalingrad. It was one of the bloodest battles of World War II.
  • D-Day

    D-Day was the day whcih a combat attack is intiated. The term is used for the day on which a combat attack is to be intiated. On June 6, 1944 the Western Allied effort to liberate Europe from Nazi occupations during World War II.

    Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge was a huge German offensive campaign. The campaign launched through the Ardennes region of Wallonia located in Belgium, France towards the end of the second World War.Adolph Hitler had attempted to split the Allied armies located in the northwest Europe. His attacks consisted of surprise blitzkrieg. The objective of the attack was to split the Allied armies by using surprise blitzkrieg. The American units had been caught of guard.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima means 'Sulfer Island, The island was very important air base for fighter escorts that supported the longrange bombing missions fighting against mainland Japan. The battle was fought for the capturing of the island. The battle had been one of the bloodest and fiercest fights of the the War in the Pacific durinf World War II. The result of the war was American victory.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    The Battle of Okinawa was the largest and biggest of the Pacific island battles during World War II. It involved 287,000 troops of the United States Tenth Army battleing against the 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese Thirty-second Army. Japan had suffered over 65,000 casualties, including 14,000 dead.
  • V-E Day

    V-E Day is Victory in Europe Day. On May 8th 1945, German troops surrendered. When Germany was defeated celebrations were held around the world. Millions of people celebrated the defeat of Germany.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    On August 6, 1945 America dropped the worlds sirst deplyed atomic bombpn the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Wipping out 90% of the city. The bomb killed 80,000 pople immediatley. Many more died later on of radiation. Three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing about 40,000 people.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day has been known as "Victory over Japan Day". V-J Day is the name given to the day Japan surrendered. On August 14 1945, Japan surrendered to the Allies. Japans surrender had effectively ending World War II.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact was a treaty signed in Warsaw on May 14th 1955. It included the Soviet Union. Poland, Albania,Hungary,Romania,Czechoslovakia,East Germany, and Bulgaria members. The treaty was put into action to all the member states to come to the defense of any member attacked by outside forces. The treaty also set up military command under Marshal Ivan S. Konev of the Soviet Union. The pact remained intact up untill 1991.
