    Japanese invasion of China
    Japanese claimed the chinese fired at them at the Marco Polo Bridge near Beijing, because of this the Japanese used launch bases as their troops against the Chinese. China was divided, impoverished, economically exploited and in war with Japan. With help from western allies China was able to defeat Japan and make them surrender. Also, when Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the U.S. declared war on Japan.

    German Blitzkrieg
    Germany wanted to avoid war, they figured they could take over the other countries by a series of short campaigns. This was a war used as a tatic of speed and surpise. This was a tactic to use to get through weak points. In 1941 a journal was found it belonged to an unknown french.
  • Germany's invasion of Poland

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    It was one of the many places that Adolf Hitler took over leadership of to create a better place for. In mid-1930s France and Britain followed the foreign policies. Britain and France garentee Poland's boarders and went to war against Germany. On Septemer 17 the Soviet Union invaded Poland. Germany was defeated which was trigered by Poland.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Code word for Nazi Geramany's invasion on the Soviet Union. The attack happened because of Hitler's desire to conquer the Soviet Union's terrritory. Germans won the resounding victories and most of the territories but that was mostly in Ukrain. Operation Barbarossa was one of the largest operations in history.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Military strick conducted by the Japanese against the U.S. military base in Hawaii. It was meant to prevent the fleet of U.S. military from interfearing with the plan the Empire of Japan had in Southeast Asia against the United Kingdoms, the Neatherlands, and the U.S. The attack as a complete shock and led the Americans to their World War II.
  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    A meeting held for Nazi Germany. It was to ensure the cooperation of admistrative leaders of various goverment departments of the implemation of the question about the Jews. This was about whether or not to deport them to Poland or kill them. Violence and economic pressure were used against the Jews to get them out of the country.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    Created one of the biggest firestorms which was raised by the royal air force and U.S. air forces. This war 42,600 civilians. This created a vortex and a whirl wind updraft of super hot heat.
  • Normandy Invasion

    Normandy Invasion
    One of the largest seaborne opperations in history. The invasion started with the German's occuping most of the European territories. They planned an operation in 1943 to mislead the Germans away from them. Allied infantry and armoured divisions started landing on the coast of France. Allied casualities are about 10,000 with 4,414 people were confirmed dead.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap
    It was code for a cancelled operation planned in August of 1944 but was shelved and never implemented. A plan for a massive attack on Berlin was belief to cause 220,000 casualities with 110,000 killed, many were German personnel which shatter German morale. It was decided althought that the plan would unlikely work. The raid were very large but less massive than the Thunderclap plan.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    Major German offensive campaign launched through the densly forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Bellgium, France. Planned to recapture the important harbor of Antwerp. U.S incurred their highest casualities during the war. The battle depleted the German's armored forces. Germans lost about 67,200 people and 100,000 men died.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    Was a major battle in the U.S. armed forces landed and eventually catured the islnad of Iwo Jima from the Japanese imperial army. The U.S invasion was designated Operation Detachment. This operations goal was to cature the entire island, including three Japanese-controlled airfields. This was a five week battle which was some of fiercest and bloodiest fighting of war in the Pacific. Despite the bloody fighting and casualties from both sides the Japanese defeat was assured from the start.
  • Batrtle of Okinawa

    Batrtle of Okinawa
    Fought oon the Ryukyu Island of Okinawa and is known as the largest amphibious assault in Pacific War. It was an 82 day battled that started early April and ended mid June. Allies approached Japan and planned to use Okinawa as a base for air operationsfor the invasion of Japanese mainland. Also use it for two Marine Divisions. Their invasion was supported by naval, amphibious, and tactical air forces. With the Soviet invasion of Manchuria caused Japan to surrender less than two months later.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    VE stands for Victory in Europe Day, was the public holiday celebrated to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of Nazi Germany's surrender of its armed forces. It marks the end of WWII in Europe. Adolf Hitler committed suicide during the Battle of Berlin on April 30th.
