Started on August,1937 During the Marco polo bridge incedent the japanese led troops to the front lines of the chinese defence and took over so many major ports that china was effectivly crippled. And in december of the same year 300,000 japanese soldiers raped 80,000 chinese women. -
German Blitzkreg
German term for "lighting war". They would very quickly mobilize a large and intimidating force into enemy territory before they could have time to muster a defence they would wipe out resistence. -

Germany tried to attack the soviet union and almost reached moskow with there very agressive tacktics and almost froze to death. They then went on the retreat. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese attack of american navy harbor. They sunk 20 battleships and 300 airplanes. Killed 2500 men and a 1000 were wounded. This came as a complete suprise to Americans. -
Wannsee Confrence
A meeting that took place in germany that the nazis called to discuss the "jewish issue" where they decided to set up jewish concentraton camps. Systematic murder of jewish people was there soulution. -
Operation Gommorah
This operation consisted of dropping over 2300 tons of incideary bombs over Hamburg, Germany. Effectivly destroying the evtire city in the matter of a few hours. -
D -DAY Invasion
D-day was the largest amphibious invasion in history. Not only was it massive in its undertaking, but it also was massive in scale. 185,000 soldiers invading a 50 mile stretch of german beach. This event is called the winding down of the war. -

Germany launched the last major millitary attempt to try to push the allies out of western france. -

This was the bombing of german cities to try and interupt the flow of materials and supplies out of germany and to there troops. -
Battle of Iwo Gima
The battle for iwa Gima was to set up an allied base on japanese soil. Not only were the american marines sucessful in destroying the japanese resistence in the area but it also set up a base for the rest of the war. -
Battle of Okinowa
ONe of the most bloody and violent battles of the war. Not only did 40,000 people die and almost 100,000 injuries that happened over a 82 day period. -
Ve day
This was the official end to the fighting in europe and the close of the war in the europe. Germany had surrendered and now they can focus on japan. -
V-J Day
Vj day stands for victory over Japan. This was celebrated because the japanese surrendered took place aboard the U.S.S. Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay.
In 1995, the 50th anniversery of the end of WW2, the administration of President Bill Clinton referred not to V-J Day but to the"End of the Pacific War" in its official remembrance ceremonies.
V-J Day parades are held in several locations across the U.S, it's on the second Monday in August
