German Blitzkrieg
It’s an attack that leads to quick victory. Germany wanted not to have a long war so they tried this technique. And Germany quickly overran much of Europe from this. The tactics required the concentration of offensive weapons. -
Fall of Paris
The Germans attacked France and when the French people of Paris left the city the Germans took over it. That the Germans were too strong at first so they got to take over most of France, from the allies that were there. That Germany took over so much land that it was easy for them to go strong cause of the land they had. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese military attacked the U.S. naval base to destroy their ships and equipment. The Japanese wanted to destroy the U.S. naval ships to make it harder for them to fight back when Japanese started to invade the south pacfic. It destroyed 20 ships and 300 airplanes, and killed 2 403 people and wounded 1 000. -
Wannsee Conference
Nazi officials had a meeting to discuss the “Jew question” which was what they are going to do about the Jews. They needed to get rid of them in any way they can. A massive murder of Jews and other citizens. 11 000 000 of Jews across Europe would be finished by the “Final Solution”. -
Battle of Midway
The battle of Midway caused the Japanese to release that they couldn’t take the U.S. out of the naval running, and that the U.S. would always be stronger. Japan wanted to remove the U.S. out of the Pacfic Power, in order to gain territory. The U.S was victorious against japan. -
Allied invasion of Italy
The allies invaded Italy and over a month of fighting the Italian government surrendered. The allies wanted to remove Italy from the war. That the allies took over Italy and forced the germans that were there to go back to Germany and fight from there. -
D-Day
The allied forces launched naval, air, and land attacks on Nazis that occupied France. The allies wanted to overthrow Nazi Germany and Hitler. It was the beginning of the end. It made Hitler fight a two front war which he never wanted to do. The Germans couldn’t handle it. -
Battle of the Bulge
Hitler wanted to split the allies into two as they tried to invade Germany. To stop and split up the allies so they wouldn’t take back land that Hitler gained. The allies won the battle and a lot of soldiers died, and lost a lot of military equipment on the Germany side. -
Liberation of concentration camps
An underground prisoner wanted to seize control of a camp. The allies came across the camps where it was filled with sick and starving people that hadn’t died yet. The survivors were emotional and psychological changes in how there were and how they went to live the rest of their lives. That they will never be the same. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
American forces invaded an Japanese island. Which causes a huge amount of deaths. The U.S needed a place to put their planes and equipment so they decided on that island, because it was the best place to fight japan from. Even though the Japanese had a huge number of deaths, Americans still had deaths or were wounded because some of the Japanese reversed to surrender. -
Battle of Okinawa
It was the largest landing in the Pacfic theatre. Americans wanted to destroy what was left of Japan's merchant fleet by making runways, to land their planes after they destroyed Japan's. The battle had lots of casualties for the Japanese over 100 000 died but most of them were told to commit sucide. And for the Americans over 50 000. -
VE Day
It was the surrender of Nazi Germany, to the allies and it was the end of the first part of WW2. The defeat of the Nazis. It meant that the war against Germany was over and something that nobody will forget. -
Potsdam Declaration
It claimed that “unintelligent calculation” by the Japan military brought the country into losing the war. And hoping that the Japanese would follow suit, the leaders lined their terms of surrender. The leaders arrived at an agreement on German economy, punishment of war crimes, land boundaries, and reparations. It didn’t settle the most important issues of what will happen next. -
Dropping of the atomic bombs
The explosions killed millions of people and the radiation after killed even more. Any attempt to invade Japan would have numerous deaths so the Americans needed something that would cost numerous amount of American soldiers to die. The dropping of the bombs had numerous effects on babies if their parents or someone in their family had been exposed to the radiation, and the effects are still felt today. -
VJ Day
It was the day that Japan surrendered to the allies and ended WW2. The day that the allies won the war. That the allies were fighting together and won the war together and as a team. -
