  • Hitler

    Hitler
    In 1935 Hitler had started to violate the Treaty of Versailles. He announced that Germany would build a new air force and begin a military draft. It was important to the war because this was the man who had started it.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    Hitler was calling for the unification of all German- speaking people including those in Austria and Czechoslovakia. In March he invaded Austria and called it "Anschluus". It was important to the war because this was one of many demands Hitler had made in the war.
  • Czechoslovakia

    Czechoslovakia
    Hitler was invading Czechoslovakia so that he could reclaim the Sudetenland to unite the German people. It was important to the war because this was when the allied powers realized that war was ineveitable.
  • Munich Conference

    A conference where the representitives of Britain, France, Italy, and Germany met to agree to Hitlers demands. This was important because they were convinced that the war was going to happen soon.
  • Danzig

    Hitler demanded that Danzig be returned to German control. Hitlers new demands showed Britain and France that war was inevitable.

    A non-aggressive treaty between Germany and the USSR. HItler only made the deal so that he would not have to fight a war with the USSR also.

    Day when Germany invaded Poland, thus starting the war against Britain and France. They defeated the Polish army by the use of the new plan "Blitzkrieg."
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg
    A new war plan were they used tanks to first break through the lines, then they used airstrikes to protect the tanks. Later they would drop in paratroopers to cut off the enemy supplies.

    Through the use of the new tactics Germany used. The Polish army could not repel it, and so the Poland capital of Warsaw fell that day to the Germans.

    The invasion of France started with the invasion of Belgium. The French made a big mistake with the Maginot line. First they waited for Germany making it easier to take over poland. And seconded the forgot that they had an open spot through Belgium were the Germans came trough.

    The evacuation of over 338,000 troops on Dunkirk, France. And across the english channel to safety.

    The Battle of Britain was a air war over Britain betwwen the German Luftwaffe, and the Royal Air Force. Because of the new technology the radar. the Royal Air Force was able to push back the German Luftwaffe.
  • French surrender

    The French had surrended in the same railroad car that thhe Germans had at the end of WWI. Now they conrtoled most of northern France and the Atlantic coastline.
