In 1937 Japan attacked China in the Battle of Shanghai. They did this to get raw resources that they were lacking. The battle lasted three months and the Japanese gained control of Shanghai. -
When China lost to Japan in the battle of Sino-Japanese war the Chinese government fled. Breaking the citizens hopes and shortly after got much worse when Japanese troops showed up. The Japanese troops launched a campaign of atrocities on the Civilians. Also know as the Rape of Nanking. More than 150,000 male war prisoners and 50,000 male citizens killed. More than 20,000 Women raped then killed after. -
Germanys approach to war was called the Blitzkrieg strategy. They would stat by bombing the enemies to ruin their air capacity, railroads and communication lines. Then they would proceed with land invasion of troops, artilleries and tanks. After that, soldiers would come in and kill the resistance.

The Fall of France began during WWII with The Battle of France. The first operation was Case Yellow or Fall Gelb and is when the armored units of Germany cut off allied units which also affect the country’s Belgium and Ardennes. When the British and the French pushed back by the operation, the British evacuated and so did France. British troops and French soldiers went across the North Sea . Trapped by the sea the Germans easily trapped France causing them to lose the war. -
This was the German invasion of the Soviet Union on June 22, 1944. The Soviet forces were getting close to the Romanian oil fields. Germany depended of the fields for oil so the turned on the Russians. This would be a turning point in the war as Germany underestimated the man power of the Russian military. -

The battle of Midway was a turning point for the war over the Pacific between the United States and Japan. This battle took place on the Island Midway. The war started when Japan was hoping to surprise attack the U.S. . The Japanese bombed and launched an airstrike attack on the U.S. plans while the U.S. split their planes to fight the air forces and the ships. The Japanese put all their focus on Midway. Once they did, they both fought till the Japanese finally fled.

After losing the battle, the German army lost so many soldiers and took such a defeat that they never quite recovered. German air force, the Luftwaffe, bombing the Volga River and the then the city of Stalingrad. the German army moved in and was able to take a large portion of the city. They trapped the German army inside of Stalingrad. Soon the Germans began to run out of food. Finally, weak from lack of food and freezing from the cold winter, the majority of the German army surrendered. -
SS forces were sent with tanks and guns to stop the Warsaw ghetto. For many months the protesters were able to fight off the German soldiers. But this time Germans systematically razed the ghetto buildings, block by block, destroying the bunkers where many residents had been hiding. In the process, the Germans killed or captured thousands of Jews. By May the ghetto was in Nazi control and Jews were sent to extermination or labor camps. -
This was the last attack of a strategic bombing during WW II. The British bombed Hamburg, Germany by night and America bombed them by day. It created a fire storm that killed around 37,000 people and injured another 180,00. It nearly destroyed the city. -
