  • Declaration of War by France the the United Kingdom

    Germany had pushed too far and could no longer be ignored, appeasement ends. The Declaration of war by France and the United Kingdom was given on the 3rd of September 1939, after German forces invaded Poland. Australian Prime Minister Robert Menzies asked the British government to notify Germany that Australia was an associate of the United Kingdom.
  • Italy Declares War on Italy and Great Britain

    Italy declares war on France and Great Britain. 10th June 1940, after withholding formal allegiance to either side in the battle between Germany and the Allies, Benito Mussolini, dictator of Italy, declares war on France and Great Britain.
  • Japan Attacks the U.S. Naval Base

    Japan attacked the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7 1941. The Japanese launched its PAcific offensive with Thailand, Malaya, the Phillipines and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, all suffering attacks.

    On December 11, 1941, the United States Congress declared war upon Germany, hours after Germany declared war on the United States after the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan.
