  • German Blitzkrieg

    The German Blitzkrieg was when the German's used the battle tactic, lightening, to take down cities with tanks before sending thesoldiers to the city. It happened because Germany wanted more land after WWI, and they came up with a plan to take out other countries. It impacted many countries because it destroyed numerous towns and killed thousands of people.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris was when Paris was invaded by the German army and they were forced to surrender when they couldn't win the battle against Germany. Germany wanted to take over paris to take down part of the british army that was helping paris. Caused 2 million people to flee from paris and multiple were arrested and killed.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the Germans planned attack on the soviet union. It happened because Hitler wanted to defeat communism happening in the USSR and take over its land. Operation Barbarossa was a fail, but Germay got a little bit of land and it left an opportunity for Soviet Union to plan a counter attack and get back more land.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl harbor was when Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base in Pearl Harbor. It was meant to neutralize U.S. pacific Fleet so that Japan count advance on other lands for naturalresources. The attack on Pearl killed more than 2,000 Americans, and destroyed U.S. Battleship U.S.S. Arizona and capsized U.S.S. Oklahoma.
  • Wannsee Confrence

    The Wannsee Confrence was the high-level meeting of Nazi Officials in Berlin. The meeting was set in place to make the "final solution", which was basically code for the mass murder of all jews. The effect was tha the Nazi's started following through with the solution and killing of Jews in concentration camps.
  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March was when the Filipino and American troopss surrendered to the Japanese and were forced to take a 65 mile march toprison camps. The Japanese didnt have the transportations to get them to the camps without walking. Many soldiers were faced with disease and starvation during the march, and many died.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah was a coordinated bombing assault over the ciy of Hamburg, Germany. It was put in place to destroy German U-boats and shipyards. It ended up killing over 42,000 and wounding at least 37,000 civilians but they destoryed some boats and shipyards.
  • Allied Invasion of Italy

    Allied invasion of Italy was a planned attack on Italy by the allied powers, it was a series of landings and land battles in Sicily and Southern Italy. It was planned because the Allied powers wanted to take down the Axis powers once and for all. The surrender of Italy did not effect the war like the Allied powers had hoped, it didn't take down the Axis Powers.
  • D-Day

    D-Day is the day of Normandy landings, 156,000 American, British, and Canadian forces landing on a 50 mile stretch of beaches. It happened because the Allied powers wanted to take the Northern part of France back from Germany. After three months of fighting the allied powers gained controlof nothern frence and gave control back to france.
  • Liberation of concentration camps

    Liberation of concentration camps was when allied powers started setting prisoners free from german control. Towardsthe end of the war they had the means to shut down many of the concentration camps holding jews. It ended with several concentration camps getting shut down and jews being set free.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    TheBattle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in WWII, which was when the U.S. Marines landed and fought for the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese. Iwo Jima was a conveniant and needed place for US fighter planes and bombers to land. The Marines eventually took the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese and used it for air bases.
  • VE Day

    VE Day was a publically celebrated holiday of the surrender of the German Nazi's. Germany was forced to surrender after the loss of a battle.Germany unconditionally surrendered all its armed forces.
  • Dropping of atomic bombs

    Dropping of the atomic bomb was when an american bomber dropped a five-ton bomb on a city in Japan. The dropping of the atomic bomb happened because of an attempt of invading america by japan. Resulted in thousands of deaths and cities were destoryed.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day was when Japan officially surrendered to the Allied powers. They were forced intosurrendering after the dropping of the atomic bomb because they had no army and barely any cities left. Effectively ended world war two.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge was the last attempted attack from the germans on the Allied powers. They tried to push the Allied front line west of northern france into Northwest Belgium. The germans loss in the Battle of the Bulge were great and it officially ended the War because they could no longer go on with the war because they had no army left, Germans surrendered to the Allied Powers.
