D-Day
Operation overlord: the invasion of Normandy was launched by the allies as an all out attack to push the Nazis back. 156000 American, British, and Canadain troops landed on a 50 mile strech of beaches on the coast of Normandy. more then 5000 shipes and 13000 aircrafts provied transport and support to the troops on the beaches. The invasion pushed back the germans and grained the americans gained grounded in France. D-Day was the turning point for the western front of the war. -
Battle of the Bulge
One Of the last major German offensive of the war. The Germans surprised the allies frontline by coming through the ardennes and attcked the relaxed troops. The front line bulged backed and it took 6 weeks for the american troops to regain the ground lost. The Germans lost most of their men that they couldnt replace during the battle and weakened the German western front majorly. -

The holiday to celebrate German's officail surrender. Karl Dontiz, Hilter's scussor signed the treaty inFrance on May 7th. VE day was celebrated by the soviets on may 9th because the treaty with the soviet union wasnt signed until the 8th in berlin. -
