    Mao Zedong was a communist leader in China. His ideology for spreading Communisim included making the peasants the true revolutionaries. He led the long march, or the Communist escape from the Nationalists.

    Germany breaks the Soviet-German Aggression pact by invading Poland. He uses tactics called "Blitzkrieg", or lightning strike, which utilizes very fast infantry followed by air-support. France and Great Britain declare war on Germany due to it's aggression.

    Yamamoto, a Japanese general, led the surprise Pearl Harbor attack. After the surprise attack, FDR requested Congress to declare war against Japan. He considered the attack "a date that will live in infamy."

    Hitler and his wife committed suicide before Germany surrendered in WWII. After Germany surrendered, a celebration called V-E took place (victory in Europe day).

    The UN was formed to promote international cooperation. The UN mission is also to promote world peace. It was signed by 26 nations who were all fighting the Axis powers in WWII.

    Allies drop bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    When US gave a warning to Japan to surrender and they didn't respond, the US dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. The atomic bombs were developed in the manhattan project and were later tested in New Mexico. Each bomb killed 70,000 people initially and then many more due to the radiation.
