  • Allies declare war on Germany

    German troops inavde Poland. France and Britain declare war on Germany. Thus starting the second world war.
  • Canada Enters the War

    After a week of delliberation Canada joins the war against the Axis Forces.
  • British Forces Flee from Dunkrik

    The Brits flee over-night from mainland Europe from Dunkirk via the English Channel. If they didn't flee they would have been left stranded and defenseless against German Army.
  • France Surrenders to Nazi's

    Paris surrenders first making it a free city,
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain begins and lasts until October 31st 1940.First battle to be fought exclusively by air force, in addition makred first defaet on Hitler's army.
  • Germany Invades Russia

    Largest military operation of the war.
  • Canadian Troops Arrive in Hong Kong

    Canadian troops tend to the aid of Hong Kong (a British Colony) currently under attack by the Japanese.
  • Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbour

    Attack on Pearl Harbour in Hawaii leads to the US directly entering the war.
  • US Enters the War

    US enters war as a result of Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbour
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    December 8th-25th 1941, Battle of Hong Kong, first batlle of Pacific Campaign.
  • Canadians vote in favour of Conscription

    Was a necessary evil, as military aid was needed overseas. Held a referendum, as Governemnt promised to never conscript again. Won majority in all provinces except Quebec.
  • Attack at Dieppe

    Dieppe ends as a disaster for Canadians, one of the darkest periods of the war. Many went home wounded or dead. Although there was a silverlining as it elucidated what not to do when coming from the beaches.
  • Allies Invade Sicily

    Marked the beggining of the Italian Campaign.
  • D-Day

    Most significant victory of the western Allies. Britain, US and Canada landed in Normandy France, in hopes of gaining a toehold in Nazi occupied Europe.
  • VE Day

    Germany surrenders, makrs end of the first world war in Europe.
  • US drops Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima

    US drops A-Bomb on Hiroshima in hopes of ending the war. Not even 3 days later the US drop another atomic bomb on Nagasaki killing and wounding over 75 000 people.
  • VJ Day

    Japan surrenders, bringing hostilities of WW2 to an end. Overall the war killed over 60 million people.
