Attack On Pearl Harbor - After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the USA declared war on Japan. On 11th December 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the USA.
Operation Barbarossa June 1941 - Hitler sent 3 million soldiers and 3,500 tanks into Russia. By November 1942 the tables were turning and the Russians won their first victory against Germany at the Battle of Stalingrad.
The Attack Of Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. After two hours of the bombing, 18 U.S. ships were sunk or damaged, 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed, and 2,403 people were killed.
22nd June 1941 – Germany attacked Russia (Operation Barbarossa) and had made some gains.
7th December 1941 – Japan attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor destroying ships, planes and radar stations.
February 1942 – Japan took Singapore from the British.
D-Day is a military term designating the start of a military operation. The D-day in modern history refers to what happened on 6th June 1944 - the day on which the Battle of Normandy began.
It was a huge effort involving months of secret preparations. D-day marked the turning point in World War II when the Allied forces began to win their fight against the Axis powers. The invasion was code-named Overlord.
