  • Japanese invasion of China

    Known as the Second Sino- Japanese War, military conflicts between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan had begun in December of 1937. The Marco Polo Incident was the beginning of this war. Prior to this, Japan had control of China, but they lacked the manpower needed to control the countryside of, which eventually lead up to this. There are many battles to happen after this incident.
  • Rape of Nanking

    The Rape of Nanking was a horrific event that involved mass murders and mass rape. It was committed by Imperial Japanese Troops against residents of of Nanjing. It occurred in the capital of China, during the Second Sino-Japanese War. This event had occurred a six week period, while the soldiers murdered tens, or thousands of thousands of Chinese civilians and challengers.

    German Blitzkriegs were methods of offensive warfare used by the Nazis. Germany's military success in the early years of World War 2 were from using these tactics, one event being when the Polish Army was destroyed in a series of attacks.

  • German’s Invasion of Poland

    Germany’s Invasion of Poland was an attack on the Second Polish Republic by Germany and the Soviet Union. This attack had started the Second World War. Germany had invaded Poland to regain lost territory, and to mainly have control over its neighbor to the East. In response to this, Great Britain and France had declared war on Germany. By September 27, 1939, Poland surrenders to Germany. The Nazis and the Soviets then divide Poland in half, Germany getting the western side.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah was the bombing of Hamburg, that started in September 10, 1939, ending in April 1945. This operation was set out by the Allied Powers; the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Force had destroyed the city of Hamburg, it's shipyards, boat pens, and the oil refineries. The allied air forces had created one of the largest firestorms, and killed about 37,000 civilians and wounding almost 170,000.

    Operation Barbarossa was a code name given for the invasion of Soviet Union by Germany and its Axis Powers. On June 22, 1941 during World War 2, Germany decided to invade the Western Parts of the Soviet Union, in hopes of taking control over the land, and populating it with Germans. By the end of the invasion, the Germans had suffered a defeat, losing almost 775,000 soldiers.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was a German Invasion of the Soviet Union. The operation name was given to this battle because it was the invasion of the Soviet Union by Germany and some of its Axis Powers. This event had started on June 22, 1941, when Germany had planned to take control over Western Soviet Union territory. In the end, Germany had lost the war, suffering about 775,000 casualties.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The event of Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack on US's Naval Base located at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu. It had happened on December 7, 1941, when Imperial Japanese Aircrafts committed kamikazes, crashing into the 8 US Navy Battleships, sinking four of them. The Japanese had planned this attack, which prevented the US from interfering in military actions of Southeast Asia. About 4,000 Americans were killed and wounded, and 188 aircrafts destroyed. The US joins WW2, joining the Allied Powers.
  • Wannsee Conference

    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting of senior government officials of Germany and Schutzstaffel leaders in the Berlin Suburb of Wannsee. This meeting was set to discuss the future plans of the Jewish population, what they had called the "Final Solution of the Jewish Question". They had envisioned that the 11 million Jews living in German territories were to be killed as part of a German Program.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap was a proposed plan that had the idea of bombing Berlin. its effect was to cause many casualties, but the plan was never used.
  • D-Day

    D-Day happened on June 6, 1944, when the Allied forces had invaded Northern France through beach landings in Normandy. This battle was the largest seaborne invasion in history, when about 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50 mile fortified coast of France's region. By late August 1944, all of Northern France had been liberated, and the Allies had defeated Germany by next spring.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Also known as the Ardennes Counteroffensive, a major offensive campaign carried out by Germany on the Western Front. Hitler's aim was to split the Allied Powers in their goal to pursue Germany. The German troops had failed to split Britain, France and the US, which lead them to easy victory.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    The Battle of Iwo Jima had take place from February 19, 1945 to March 26. It was a major battle in which the United States Marine Corps and Navy landed on the Island of Iwo Jima, in hopes of taking control from the Imperial Japanese Army. After the 5 week battle, only about 200 Japanese forces were killed out of 21,000, and about 7,000 marines were killed.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    The Battle of Okinawa was a major battle of the Pacific War, fought on the Island of Okinawa. On April 1, 1945, the The Fifth Fleet of the Navy and about 180,000 U.S. Marine Corps troops invade the Pacific Island of Okinawa, towards the final push for Japan. Their plan was to invade and control the Ryukyu Islands. At the end of the 8 week battle, the Japanese had lost 120,000 troops defending Okinawa, while the US had lost 12,500, and 35,000 wounded. The Allies gained control over Okinawa.
  • VE Day

    VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, is the day that celebrates the official agreement by the Allied Powers of World War 2 of Germany's unconditional surrender. May 8, 1945 marks the ending of World War 2 in Europe.
  • Dropping of the Atomic Bombs

    On August 6, 1945, the first deployed atomic bomb was launched onto another world power. The United States detonated one atomic bomb onto a Japanese city Hiroshima. The bomb is estimated to have killed around 80,000 people, another 10,000 after due to radiation exposure. Three days later, the United States drops another onto Nagasaki, a Japanese city. It is estimated that this bomb had killed 40,000.
  • VJ Day

    August 15 is the day that marks the surrendering of Imperial Japan. This surrender brings an end to World War 2
