Japanese invasion of China
conflict on the Marco-Polobridge leads to the Japanese-Chinese war. On july 9, Japan invades peking allowing them to advance further along the coast of china. This event helped Japan on thier land and resources. -
Germany's invasion of Poland
The German naval training ship fires opening shots at the Polish naval base at Westerplatte. German troops invade Poland. German tanks thundered across the Polish border. Germany gained slave man power, agricultural resources and natural resources that was required floor the war. -
German Blitzkrieg
Blitzkrieg is a military tactic using heavy machinery and air craft. Germany invaded Poland, Netherlands and France using this tactic. -
Operation Barbarossa
Operatiion Barbarossa was the code name for the Germany invasion of the Soviet Union. It was launched on June 22nd 1941. Poor winter weather was brought in the war just outside of Moscow allowing the Soviet Union to push them back. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese fighter planes attack the U.S. base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. U.S. forces were unprepared, waking to the sounds of explosions and scrambling to defend themselves. This event led the U.S into declaring war against Japan. -

The Wannsee Conference was a meeting of Nazi Seniors to discuss "the final soultion of the Jewish question". This is where they decided they would send Jews to concentration camps. This event led to the court case korematsu vs the U.S -

Japenese Internment were relocation camps for Japanese Americans during the World War II. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor FDR was concerned about Jepanese-Americans living in California. -
Bataan Death March
On April 9, 1942 approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make a 65 mile march to prison camps. The marchers marched in intense heat and were treated bad by the japanese gaurds. Thousands died, so it became known as the Bataan Death March. -
Battle of Stalingrad
Germany surrounds the key city of stalingrad. This was the first time the germans were truly deafeated on the eastern front. This event was the turning point of the eastern war. The battle lasted until February 2, 1943 -
D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
This was the largest invasion ever. Allies had planned an invasion of the main land. The main attacks were at Omaha Beach and Utah Beach.This event lead to France being liberated. -
Battle of the Bulge
The allies were advancing further into German territory. Germans launched an unsuccessful counterattack in Belgium and northern France, known as the Battle of the Bulge. Germans Air Force was shattered due to this battle, and allowed the allies to advance further. (ended January 25,1945) -
Battle of Iwo Jima
Americans needed the island of Iwo Jima as a fighter base for their Japanese raids. Japanese soldiers had prepared defences but allowed Americans to land before opening fire. This event allowed the U.S to operate closer to Japan,setting up a base on Iwo Jima. (ended March 26, 1945) -
Battle of Okinawa
The allies wanted to use Okinawa island as a base for air operation because is was outisde of Japans mainland and they wanted to use it for Japanese invasions. The battle was fought on land and ocean. After the battle was over on June 22nd, 90% of the buildings on the island were lost. -
Victory in Europe Day
V-E Day is a national holiday in Europe called, "Victory in Europe Day". On May 7, 1945, Garman radio announced that General Alfred Jodl would sign the official surrender of Nazi Germany. Winston Churchill immediately announced that the 8th May, 1945 would be a national holiday. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
America dropped the first atomic bomb on the city iof Hiroshima. Killing thousands of people and wiping out 90 percent of the city. Three days later America dropped another atomic bomb on the city og Nagasaki. This event led to the surrender of Japan on August 15 that same year. -
V-J Day
On August 14, 1945 Japan announced its surrender. The day became known as Victory over Japan Day. This event led to the end of World War II. -
Nuremberg Trials
The Nuremberg Trials were for bringing Nazi war criminals to justice, the Nuremberg trials were a series of 13 trials carried out in Nuremberg, Germany. This event led to the exucution of many Nazi Generals.
