    On April 9, 1942 approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make a 65 mile march to prison camps. The marchers marched in intense heat and were treated bad by the japanese gaurds. Thousands died, so it became known as the Bataan Death March.

    The allies wanted to use Okinawa island as a base for air operation because is was outisde of Japans mainland and they wanted to use it for Japanese invasions. The battle was fought on land and ocean. After the battle was over on June 22nd, 90% of the buildings on the island were lost.

    V-E Day is a national holiday in Europe called, "Victory in Europe Day". On May 7, 1945, Garman radio announced that General Alfred Jodl would sign the official surrender of Nazi Germany. Winston Churchill immediately announced that the 8th May, 1945 would be a national holiday.
