The Japanese managed to destroy naval vessels, battleships, and airplanes, and many more people were killed. The day after, Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.

Hitler was convined that the US would soon declare war on Gmermany since they were already attacking German U-boats and such. So, in return Germany handed the Secretary of State a declaration of war.

Roosevelt wins his 3rd term as the president of the US by defeating the republican Thomas Dewey very easily. This was a new set record as the first person to serve for 3 terms.
