Russia supplied arms to china and germany created an allience with japan in 1938. By 1940 the war was at a stalemate. Japanese were unable to force victory and the chinese were unable to get their land back.

More than 1500 German civilians were killed. 17,000 bomber sorties dropped more than 9,000 tons of explosives which killed more than 30,000 people.

    Marshal Montgomery from the british 8th Army starts an allied invasion on the Italian Peninsula. The Italian Government secretly agrees to the Allie's terms for surrender. Benito Mussolini envisions building Italy into a new Roman Empire. July 10 the allies began their invasion of the Axis controlle Eurpoe. Patton arrives in Messina on August 17th. July 25th Mussolini is forced to resign and is arrested. On July 26th the Italian government falls under the control of Marshal Petro Badoglio.

    There was 287,000 troops of the US Army versus 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese Army. The Air bases were in danger from being invaded by Japan. 77,000 soldiers from Japan were lost. Allies sufferd 65,000 casualties. American General Simon B Buckner died by artillery fire. Ushijima Mitsuru died by suicide.

    The United States was the first nation to use atomic bombs on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The drop of the atomic bomb marked the end of world war 2. On August 6, 1945 the american bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over Hiroshima. It immediatley killed 80,000 people. Three days later another bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki, killing 40,000. Finally Japan surrendered.
