    • Made sure German blood wasn’t tainted by mixing races
    • Jews cannot have a German flag or wear the national colours
    • On the other hand Jews were allowed to wear Jewish colours, had to wear the Star of David
    • Germans had to make up a family tree to prove that there were no Jews in their family
    • The Germans settled that a “full Jew” has three Jewish grandparents

    Just as in WW1, Canada's supply shipping was vital to the allies
    - Canada would carry Weapons, Soldiers, food, clothing etc. to Britain
    - Ships going to and from Canada were in constant threat of German 'U-Boats'

    Most of the battle was fought in planes (plane v plane)Germany changed their plan form bombing. British airfields to bombing cities after facing heavy British resistance. Support from Canadians, French, and polish pilots were enough to stop the attacks

    Battle of Stalingrad

    Many consider Stalingrad to be the most important/significant battle of WW2. Despite their casualties, the soviets had a decisive victory in this battle. They were able to halt the German advancement into the soviet union
  • Operation Overlord (D-Day)

    The allies found the right time to go on the offensive, and made a plan to attack the highly fortified Normandy. 150,000 soldiers were involved in the battle, 14,000 were Canadian. The raid was successful, especially for Canadians. The allies were able to breach the Nazi defenses.

  • Atom Bomb (Manhattan Project, Hiroshima, Nagasaki)

    • Goal to create a nuclear arsenal for the US
    • The necessary research and production of a usable bomb took nearly 3 years
    • By 1945, 3 usable nuclear bombs had been produced
    • 1 was tested at Los Alamos, New Mexico in July 1945
    • The other 2 were intended for military use
    • One bomb named "little boy" was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945
    • On 9, August 1945, a second nuclear bomb, nicknamed “Fat Man” was dropped on Nagasaki

    The Germans formally surrendered on May 8th, 1945, known as Victory-in-Europe, of V-E Day
