  • Beginning of the battle

    The battle of Tanningberg commenced.The Battle of Tannenberg was the first major battle in World War I on the eastern front. It pitted the forces of Russia against those of Germany. The major battle was preceded by a much more minor affair at Gumbinnen which had a great influence upon the course of the campaign.
  • The Battle and Trench Warefare

    Battle of marne begins. Trench warefare begins as soilders on both sides start the excavation.
    Ethical Dimention:
    - using trenches was a unethical because it caused many deaths and injuries even before the war.(trench foot, respetory problems)
    Continuity and Change:
    - trenches are not practical in modern war
    - too much work for little result
  • The Battle of Ypres

    The Battle of Ypres begins.
  • Christmas Time !

    Unofficial truce was declared during Christmas.
    Historical Perspective:
    -during the war soldiers were told that the enemy was viscous
    - this gave enemy soilders the oppertunity to meet their "enemy" to realize that they are the same
    Ethical Dimention
    - it was ethical because it caused a seize fire and let opposing sides to communicated and get to know each other
  • A group has come forth

    The Dardanelles Campain begins.
  • Battle of Gallipoli

    Battle of Gallipoli begins. This battle was a battle that strengthened the alliance between New Zealend, Turkey, Astrailia.
    Historical Significance:
    - the battle encouraged the alliance between the countries
    Continuity and Change:
    - battle has been deemed useless and a waste of time and men.
  • Battle of Ypres Part 2

    The secound battle of Ypres begins. This was the first war the poison gas was used by the Germans
  • Verdun's Battle

    The beginning of the battle of Verdun, this was one of the longest and bloodiest wars in WW1.
  • The Navy Battle

    The battle of Jutland, and it is the major naval battle.
    Continuity and Change:
    - naval battle ships have now improved greatly, being more effective and efficient
    Historical Perspective:
    - this battle showed the practicle use of the navy and the results of its development
  • Battle of Somme

    The battle of some was a long bloddy war, it was also the first war that used tanks on a large scale attack
    Ethical Dimention:
    - many unessessary deaths occured
    - media was altered
    Cause and Effect:
    - pressure on French-Canadians in the battle of Vurden cause the Battle of Somme
    - in hopes germans would withdraw troops from Vurden to Somme , to ease the pressure off French-Canadians
  • Germans cry for help

    The Germans sent a telegram to Mexico in hopes to persuade them to join the war. it was a failer because the British intercepted the message.
    Historical Significance :
    - if the Germans got Mexico to help , germany would have had alot more men and supplies. Thus changing the outcome of the war
    Historical Perspective:
    - there was too much at stake for the Germans , to increase their odds they tried to involve an other country
  • Battle of Ypres Part 3

    The third and last battle of Ypres begins.(also known as Passchendaele)
  • Russian Revaluation

    A movment to over through the Russian government began , the Bolsheviks were seccessful.
  • New Russia

    The amistice made a decision between the New Russian government and centeral powers and goes into effect.
  • New Peace Treaty

    Russia agrees to sign a treaty of Brest Litovsk. Which is a peace treaty thus causing peace between Russia and Centeral Powers.
  • Garmany goes Offensive

    Germany launches Spring Offensive .
  • The End

    Germany signs the armistice at Compiegne.France stops fighting on the 11th hour, 11th day on the 11th month.
    Cause and Effect
    - the wars casualties cause there to be a need of regret and honour those who gave their lives for the country.
    Continuity and Change:
    - now honurly known as Rememberance Day
  • Conclusion

    The treaty of Varsailles officially ends WW1
    Historical Perspective:
    -the war dragged on along time and has taken many lives and supplies, thus promoting the treaty
    Historical Significance:
    - if this treaty was not created the war would have been longer and more catastrophic
    - war would be more of a lost then a gain
