    during the Spanish american war his time was mostly spent with Teddy Roosevelt and the roughriders. He went with Hobson to bottle up the harbor in Santiago. Got captured by the Spanish but easily escaped and rejoined with his old regiment and served with them until the conclusion of the affair.

    May 7, 1915 the Lusitania torpedoed with no warning because of a German submarine off the south coast of Ireland. Just in 20 minutes it sank into the Celtic Sea. About 1,189 people drowned.
