Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip, who was part of the Black Hand. He joined the Black Hand after he was rejected by the army. Because of this assisnation Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia and that was the start of the war

Trench Warfare was when they dug trenches starting at the Marne and going across the land. In between the trenches was a territory called no mans land. Because of this barbed wire was created to stop men from just charging in.

The sinking of the Lusitania angered the Americans because there was 128 Americans on board. This was sank by a German U-Boat.

The Zimmerman Telegram was from Germany to Mexico telling them to help attack the United States. Germany promised them that they would get Mew Mexico, Texas, etc. The US intercepted this telegram and that is the main reason why they entered the war.

This was part of the Treaty of Versailles where Germany was given the blame for the war and had to pay a lot. Their army now had a restricted size. The Germans ended up breaking the Treaty causing WWII.
