The fighting was "some of the fiercest" the Australians experienced during the campaign to that point. the fighting lasted for 4 days and 7 victora crosses were presented to ANZAC soliders of valor. during the onsaulght the ottomans suffed 5,000-7,000 casualties

    the last major assault of the Battle of Gallipoli was launched to coincide with the attack on Scimitar Hill.the first assault was made by Australians of the 13th and 14th Battalions together with the 5th Battalion of the Connaught Rangers. With no effective artillery support, under fire from Hill 60 and neighbouring Hill 100, the infantry were decimated. the amout of ottman soliders killed is unkouwn but 2,500 british and ANZAC troops were lost
