  August 26 - The Battle of Tannenberg begins. The Battle of Tannenberg was the first major battle in World War I on the eastern front. It pitted the forces of Russia against those of Germany.

  December 24 The unofficial Christmas truce is declared. They two side joined in the singing of silent night in their native language. The joined together in a match of football aalthough it went against their leaders they did what was best, for the sake of christmas.
