  • Japanese Invasion of China

    Japanese Invasion of China
    On this day, Japanese made a brutal attack on China, in search of expansion. Later on, Japan signs the Tripartite Pact with Germany and Italy, entering the Axis. The U.S. then imposed economic sanctions on Japan order to keep Japanese forces away from China and Manchuria.
  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    This was the first attack of the war. A German aircraft bombed the Polish town of Weilum, killing nearly 1,200 people. This led to Great Britain declaring war on Germany. The method used by the German's was known as 'Blitzkrieg' because of the effectiveness and coordination, both by land and air.

    'Blitzkrieg' is a German term meaning 'lightning war'. This was a German military tactic that would cause disorganization in the enemy's force. The Blitzkrieg resulted in short military campaigns, preservation of lives and reduction of money spent on artillery.

    This was the lauch to begin German invasion of the Soviet Union. It was thought that Axis forces could reach and capture the Soviet capital of Moscow in about 8 weeks. The Soviet was out numbered by the Axis powers. Also included in the battle were 3 Axis army groups in which each had different missions to complete. German army had luck and made tremendous gain.

    Japan creates a sneak attack on the Americans at Hawaii. Japan's colonial dominance was weakening. The Japanese worked hard in developing their plan to get the job done. 6 carriers were loaded with some 450 aircrafts sailing towards Hawaii. The Americans were too late in delivering the news to Hawaiian associates.

    Nazi officials meet to discuss the "Final solution" of the "Jewish Question." Herman Goering was instructed by Hitler to order to carry out the desired final solution of the Jewish question.

    This was a battle between U.S. navy and the empire of Japan. Japan wanted to destroy the rest of the American carriers by luring them in a complicated trap. This would force the carriers out of Pearl for a final deathblow. This would help close the range of other places that would be targeted. The Japanese tthought of making a negotiation with Americans to end the war on favorable terms for the empire.

    On this day Britain and The US celebrate the defeat of the Nazi war machine. The germans finally laid down their arms.

    Hitler decided to attempt to split the allied armies in northwest Europe by means of a surprise Blitzkrieg. Three German armies launched the deadliest and desperate battle of the war in Ardennes. American units were caught flat-footed and fought desperate battles.
