Treaty of Versailles
It was a peace treaty signed by Llyod George, Vittio Orlando, Georges Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson. It put heavy restrictions on military forces and land ownership for Germany. The treaty forced Germany to repay for the damage they caused during World War I. -
Hitler's Rise to Power
Adolf Hitler rose to power in Germany. He was the leader of the National Socialist German Workers party, or also known as the Nazi party. -
Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini became leader of Italy. His goal was to make Italy as great and powerful as the Roman Empire. He expanded and benefited Italy with many new renovations. However, his facist party was a very negative showing of his ruling. They used fear to make sure everyone was doing what he wanted. -
Manchuria
Depression had been set pretty bad in Japan, citizens began to loose faith in the governement which they looked to the army for help. The Army invaded Manchuria for resources, high in rich minerals. -
Non-aggression Pact with Poland
The Polish chief signed a treaty with Germany to not go to war with eachother for 10 years. Hitler eventually invaded Poland anyeays disregarding the treaty. -
Italy Invasion
Italy invaded Abyssinia, who did not have the resources or power to stand against Italy's attack. Abyssinia looked to the League of Nations for assistance. Which in result, the League declared the attack wrong. -
Re-militarization of the Rhineland
German forces entered into the Rhineland. The Rhineland was a demilitarized zone. Hitler doing this, went against the Treaty of Versailles and the Locarno Pact. -
New Prime Minister
Neville Chamberlain became the Prime Minister of Britian. He believed that Germany was treated poorly by the Treaty Of Versailles. He adopted the the policy known as the policy of Appeasement. -
Hitler Wants Austria
Hitler wanted the land that was taken away from Germany, so his first target was to get Austria back. Austrian leader was forced to make the people vote to decide if they wanted to become apart of Germany. 99% of the population wanted to join with Germany. -
Hitler's Demand of Czechoslovakia
The Treaty of Versailles had taken the Sudetenland away from Germany. Hitler demanded that it waswas given back to Germany. Hitler had promised that he would not take anymore claims of land if it was given back to him. Hitler had gotten this land back. -
German Invasion of Czechoslovakia
German troops marched into Czechoslovakia, this event had shown many bad, untrue sides of Hitler's rule. This invasion marked the end of appeasement. -
Hitler Invades the Rest of Czechoslovakia
Hitler had invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia, he had broken the Munich Agreement. It was an aggrement that the Nazi Germany's could only overrule specific portions of Czechoslovakia. This policy had failed. -
German Invasion of Poland
The German Army invaded Polish borders to expand Germany. -
Battle of Britian
German planes flew over Great Britian everyday bombing and killing hundreds. German losses became so large that the bombings stopped. -
Germany attacks Soviet Union
Germany attacked the Soviet Union, Hitler disregarded his promises and treaties. He perfomed a suprise attack on them. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese Aircraft attacked the American naval base in Hawaii. Thousands were killed and ships were destroyed. America had declared war on Japan. -
North Africa Freed
The United States and British Troops landed in North Africa to start a battle. German tanks had been there. The battle ended with most of the Germans killed or held captive. North Africa had been freed. -
Invasion Sicily
The U.S and its allies invaded Sicily. The allies took Sicily from the Axis Powers. The U.S and allies had defeated Sicily. It started the Italian Campaign. -
D-Day Invasion
The United States, Great Britian and Canada went to Normandy, France and attacked the German armies. Another year later, fighting and bombings were reoccuring... Germany was the main target of it all. -
German's Surrender
The German's surrendered, Both Hitler and Mussolini were dead. Millions of soldiers were dead. The awful war in Europe was done. World War II in Europe was over.
