    Germany invaded Poland which set off war in Europe. The Soviet Union also invaded Poland and the Baltic nations. All of this was considered the German Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg is also called "the lightning war". Hitler used the Blitzkrieg technique to invade Poland. In effect of the Blitzkrieg, it started war and Europe and Germany got control of Europe.

    Battle of France

    The Battle of France, also known as the Fall of France was when Germany invaded France and captured Paris. German forces defeated Allied forces by mobile operations. The overall goal of this operation was for Germany to capture France. In effect of the Battle of France, France is now German land.

    The Battle of Britain

    The Battle of Britain was when German and Britain air forces clashed in the sky above the United Kingdom. The goal of the operation was for German's to capture more land and for Britain to end the war. In the end Britain won the war, but the United Kingdom had a lot of damage due to all of the bombs.

    Lend Lease
    The Lend Lease Act happened on March 11, 1941. This was when the United States gave Britain war supplies and old naval warships in return for military bases in Bermuda and the Caribbean. In effect, this helped the Allies in the war before the U.S. entered the war.

    On June 22, 1941 The Soviet Union was invaded. Germany invaded The Soviet Union, then The Soviet Union defeated Germany at Stalingrad, marking the turning point of the war in Europe. In effect The Soviet Union became really strong.

    On June 22, 1941, Germany used Operation Barbarossa to invade the Soviet Union. The operation was driven with the eagerness to conquer the Soviet Union. In effect The Soviet Union beat Germany and drove them out.
  • The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Japan had the goal of damaging U.S. fleet so it doesn't collide with them in the Pacific. In effect the U.S. became suspicious about Japanese-Americans and created their own types of concentration camps and the U.S. entered World War II.

    After the Bombing of Pearl Harbor, Germany declared war on the United States and then the U.S. declared war on Japan and Germany. All of this happened four days after the bombing, on December 11, 1941. In effect World War II got even bigger and more violent.

    The Battle of Bluge happened during December 1944, this was where the Germans used the "blitzkrieg" technique. The Battle of Iwo Jima occurred on February 9, 1942, where the American goal was to seize the landing strips on the island.

  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    Once the United States surrendered the Peninsula Bataan many American and Filipino troops were forced to walk 65 miles to prison camps. In effect it was called the Bataan Death March because so many people died. All of these troops that marched were forced under bad heat and were treated harshly by Japanese troops.

    The Battle of Midway is considered the most important battle in the Pacific. This was the Japanese attack of U.S. fleet at Midway Island. In the end all of Japanese aircraft carriers and over 253 planes destroyed, the Japanese navy never recovered.

    In the Warsaw Ghetto a bunch of Jewish people revolted against the Nazis. This revolt involved armed people in the ghettos. In effect it caused other revolts in other ghettos.

    D-Day
    On June 6, 1944, Allied troops landed in Normandy, France, on D-Day. The goal was to begin liberation of Western Europe. D-Day was considered the turning point of World War II.

    Liberation of Concentration Camps

    The Soviet Union was the first to liberate a concentration camp at Madjanek on July 23, 1944. Once they did that they went to many other camps and liberated them. On January 27, 1945 they entered Auschwitz and found many sick and wounded prisoners. In the end the Soviet Union tried to save many prisoners but also found a lot dead.

  • Battle of Bulge

    During The Battle of Bulge Allied troops pushed back and ended the German offensive. Germany's goal of this attack was to split the Allied Power's armies through "blitzkrieg" attack. In effect this battle changed the end of the war.

    Through August 6- August 9, 1945, The United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. The two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The goal of this was to end World War II with Japan and it was very successful.
