    British army launched a bombing raid on Hamburg on the evening of July 24, 1943. From the 791 air crafts that were flown only 12 of them were lost. In what was a few hours they had dropped around 2,300 tons of incendiary bombs killing around 1,500 German civilians. Also, the U.S. Eighth Air Force bombed northern Germany and had two raids on Hamburg during daylight hours.

    On June 6, 1944 the Invasion of Normandy began when around 150,000 allied soldiers landed on a 50 mile stretch of beach land on a heavily fortified French frontier. The Germans gave a Heavy resistance in Omaha Beach where over 2,000 American soldiers were killed.
