After brutally attacking Nanking the Japanese quickly moved south through China. The fighting began in March in 1937 at the Marco Polo Bridge Incedent. -
Rape of Nanking
In order to 'break the spirit of chinese resistence'' the japenese brutally attcked the city of Nanking in the begining of the war. 50,000 male citizens were murdered, and 20,000 women and girls raped. This was a terrible event in history and destroyed many lives. -
German Blitzkrieg
The German Blitzkrieg was a german military tactic first used when German attacked Poland on September 1 1939. This tactic was designed to confuse enemy forces and create disorganization. They accomplished this by the use of mobile forces and 'locally concentrated firepower'. -
Germany's invasion of Poland
1.5 million german troops invade Poland, they attacked polish airfields and bomber their naval forces in the baltic sea. Hitler claimed that this act by the Germans was defensive, when it was most likely not. This action that germany made against Poland caused Britain and France to declare war on Germany. These countries didn't belive hitler when he claimed it was a defensive act. -
Fall of Paris
Germany caprtures Paris, many civilians have already fled. They made arrests and interogations of the people in Paris. The remaining Civilians remained trapped in their capital until saved. US jumped innto action this day. -
Operation Barbarossa
Adolf Hitler drove his armys eastward to an invasion of the Soviet Union. This army contained three huge army groups with over 3 million German Soldiers. Barbarossa was a huge turning pint in WWI and it failed, forcing the Nazi Germans to fight and 2 front war. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan surprise attacks America at the battle at Pearl Harbor. Hundreds of japanese naval planes launched an attack on this harbor that lasted for two hours. It was extremly devastating for america, and caused america to lose a lot of their military structures. -
Wannsee Conference
Hitler ordered Reinhard heydrich, SS general and Heinrich Himmlers #2 man to 'sumit' to create a solution for the Jewish problem. This meeting was simply to 'devise a plan that would rneder a final solution to the jemish question'. Many gruesome topics were discussed on how to kill the jews, and many of the jews ended up being killed in gas chambers. -
Operation Gomorrah
Brithish bombers raid Hamburg in Germany at night using Operation Gomorrah.They dropped 2300 tons of incendiary bombs upon Hamburg in a few hours. 1500 germans were killed in this british raid, but britain lost only 12 aircraft carriers. -
D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
15600 British, American, and Canadian forces landed on five different beachees on France's Normandy region. This was one of the largest military assults in history and before it happened it required extensive planning. This invasion ended well, and Paris was liberated and the germans were driven out of France. -
Battle of the Bulge
The germans launched their last major attempt in the war. They tried to push the Allied line west from northern France towards NW belgium. This was the largest battle fought on the Western front. 250000 Germans fought against 80000 Americans and the germans were succesful in pushing the Americans to retreat. This battle lasted for 3 weeks and America suffered heavy loses. -

Was a Dredson bombing that still holds speculation on how many deaths there were. -
Battle of Iwa Jima
American soldiers made their first attack on the Japenese home islands. Caused because the americans needed a bade that was near the Japenese coast. The Americans wiped out this place and it was an american victory. -
Battle of Okinawa
This was the last and largest pacific island battles in WWI, and also the bloddiest. This war involved 287,000 troops of the US men against 130,000 Japenese soldiers. Both sides suffered heavy casualities, The commanding genrals on both sides dies, and this battle also had a heavy amount of civilian casualities because of where it was held. -
VE Day
On this day GB and the US both celebrated victory. Flags and banners were put out and people rejoiced in the defeat of the Nazi war machine. This was the day when german troops finally laid down their weapons . -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
An american B-29 bomber dropped the worlds first atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima. Approximately 80,000 people were killed and thousands injured. -
VJ Day
Japenese surrendered, ending WWII. This day is known as the ''Vicotrian Japan Day''.
