    Japanese invasion of China
    Because of constant conflict between military powers between China and Japan, Japan attacked China. With economic help from Germany, the Soviet Union, and the United States, China fought back. Their efforts were too small to beat them and the Second Sino-Japaneese War begun.
  • Rape of Nanking

    Rape of Nanking
    Japan invaded the Chinese city of Nanking. They did this in order to take over more parts of the country and to advance their power during the war. For 6 weeks the Japanese solders raped, stole, and murdered around 300,000 people. The majority of the people killed were innocent people. The soilders had no instructions as to what to do and as a result of that uncontrolled power, caused and let terrible things happen to many innocent people.

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    Germany and Poland signed a non-agressiong pact in the summer of 1939. They agreed that for 10 years, they would stay civil. They made it 10 years because both countries knew ne would betray the other eventually. Germany wanted to gain territory and power in Poland, s they attacked the weak country and World War II began.

    Blitzkrieg was a war strategy made by germany whcih involved many bombings, firing, and attcking very quickly and all at once. The Nazi's used this strategy many times during the war and it helped them get the gains they got.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    On the 14th of June, the Nazi's invaded Paris and put the city of strict lockdown. Over 2 million people fled before or during this time. The U.S. urged France to try and create peace and that we would have their backs. No further aid came from America, but the U.S. cut all lines witht the Axis powers.

    The Nazi army decided they wanted to take over Russia, so that they would ahve two fronts to be fighting from. The Germany army was teh most advanced and technical during this century. Because of that, Germany underestimated Russia. Germany could not win this battle and retreated.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japaneese forces decided to try and take over the U.S. forces and/or get revenge on us. They bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii; a harbor where many destroyers and aircraft carriers were in at the time. This was the last straw for the U.S. for this was the point where we joined in WWII.

    Wannsee Conference
    The day that the Nazi party fnially decided what to do about the "Jew issue". Leaders decided that all of those that could work, would be worked to death, and all others would be sent to camps to be lab rats or die in gas chambers. This meeting was a meeting to start genocide.
  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    A day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japaneese forces invaded the Philippines. American soilders and Filipinos fought for 3 months without naval help. On the 9th General Edward King Jr. surrendered his 75,000 troops. The Japanneese soilders then made the Americans march a 65 mile walk to prison camps in extreme and harsh conditions, which killed thousands.
  • Warsaw Ghetto uprising

    Warsaw Ghetto uprising
    The largest ghetto in Poland at the time. Controlled and regulated by Nazi's. Many people died in the ghetto's because of disease or starvation. On the 19th or April, 1000 people living in the ghetto took arms from the armory and started an uprising against the Nazi's.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    The Allied Powers struck Hamburg, Germany with air raids 24/7. Britian would strike during th night, while the U.S. would drop day raids. This destroyed the city and Hitler's pride. This made him refuse to go back to the abbandon cities because he thought it meant the end of the war.
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    The begining of the end of WWII; otherwise known as D-Day. The Allied powers deceived Germany for months on their next plan f attack. They invaded and inhabitated Normandy and gained territory. The Axis powers fell for the plan and did not see the suprise attack coming. This was a huge marking point in the war for Allied advancement.

    Battle of the Bulge Video Hitlers attempt to divide the Allied powers. Many men died to hypothermia because of the cold weather during this battle. Hitler remained neutral during this and his plan failed.
  • Liberation of concetration camps

    Liberation of concetration camps
    American troops broke through the enemy lines and came across a concentration camp called Dachau. When they got there, they found 30,000 plus bodies decomposing and prissioners in terrible conditions. They then proceded to execute some German leaders or the camp, and help the prissioners that they could.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    A large advance for the Allied powers. We took over the Island of Iwo Jima which was used heavily by the Japaneese. It was of little use to us other than a refuling and stopping point for fighter jets, and a major advance for the Allies.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Major opperation planned by the Allies. this plan would have taken out more than 100,000 Germans and Russians. This also included many German leaders and heads. The plan got cancelled because it was more than likely not going to work. It was cancelled twice.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Another large stepping stone for the Allies. It was a fight over the large air base that was vital in keeping Japan from being invaded. This battle was fought in a heavily poulated area and had a very high death total. Both generals of the U.S. and Japan died. The U.S. finally won after a bloody battle.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    Otherwise known as victory in Europe day. The day that Germany finally surendered. Many POW's were set free. Japan still had not yet surrendered.
  • Dropping of the atomic bombs

    Dropping of the atomic bombs
    The U.S. had been creating an atomic bomb that they would use if becessary to defeat the Japaneese. They gave them the chance to surrender and they didn't want to. We then dropped the 1st atomic bomb on Hiroshima. This killed many, but they still wouldn't give in. They were given the chance to surrender once more and they didn't. We then dropped a 2nd atomic bomb. After the devestation twice, they finally surrendered.
  • VJ Day

    The day that Japan finally surreders. Also known as victoryover Japan day. Truman said it was the "end of facism". This day was the end of WWII.
